Instead of having a brain, the Purple Sea Urchin has a large nerve ring that controls their nervous system. It is located around the mouth, just inside the lantern. Attached to the nerve ring are five nerves that eventually branch out into smaller nerves that lead into the tubed feet, spines and pedicellairae.
